From SDLC to AI-Driven SDLC: A Migration Handbook

Adding a coding assistant to an unchanged process mostly moves the queue: code arrives faster, and the work piles up at specification, review and verification instead. This book is a map for changing the process itself — a maturity ladder for each of the eight phases of software delivery, public cases with what was actually measured, and a phase-by-phase migration plan with the guardrails and metrics that tell you whether to climb, hold or roll back.

How to read this book

  • Engineering leaders: read Part I in order — it makes the case, defines the maturity model every later chapter uses, and shows what other organisations measured.
  • Tech leads and staff engineers: read Chapter 2, then jump to the Part II chapter for the phase you own; each one has the same shape, from the ladder to the migration steps.
  • Running a migration: Part III is the plan — assess where you are, run a 90-day pilot, scale it, and know in advance what would make you roll back.
